Restaurant Worlds of the Future

During the winter semester 2007/2008 students developed innovative ideas concerning future restaurant concepts that were evaluated and shown in Stuttgart at the INTERGASTRA fair. IMT students from Salzburg were awarded by the German Hoteliers and Restaurant Association (DEHOGA) for their innovative ideas.

Within the INTERGASTRA fair in Stuttgart, IMT Students got awarded for their great ideas about future restaurant concepts.
The project was a cooperation between the Bachelor degree program IMT and the German tourism journal Gastronomie Report and started in 2007 within the subject "creativity methods". Out of 10 ideas 6 were chosen by a prominent jury to be built as models by students enrolled in the wood design degree course at the FH Salzburg. These were displayed to the worldwide audience during the INTERGASTRA fair in Stuttgart in February, 2008. The winning project "mood pebbles" was awarded 2000 Euros by the president of the DEHOGA, the largest organisation of tourism companies within Germany.

Sustainability - Alternative/renewable Energies in Tourism

Alternative Energies are becoming more and more important in tourism. It is no longer just a matter of costs to use renewable energies in tourism and hospitality but also a matter of CRS and customer relations. Students from the IMTe Bachelor degree program could experience solar energy solutions for traffic integration (Werfenweng) and renewable energy concepts in Lungau, a mountain region in Salzburg. In the IMT Master program (starting in 2010) there will be a special focus on sustainability.
