Tuition fees
Tuition fees for the IMTe program are only Euro 380 per semester but the number of enrollments is limited to 70 per year (30 imte, 40 imt/german).

Scholarships
For further information concerning scholarships see www.studieren.at as well as www.stipendium.at .

How much money you will need ?

Although the tuition fee is very low, living in Salzburg can be quite expensive. Prices for accommodation and living costs are like in any other Central European city.
Students from non EU countries have to prove that they will have about Euro 700 available per month to get a visa for Austria.

Visa requirements/working permits
For students from abroad who have been accepted into the imt-e program, we offer individual advise regarding working permits.

For visa information, please consult your nearest Austrian embassy or consulate -
find lists of nearest Austrian representatives at www.bmaa.gv.at or see www.oead.at

Apply for an "Aufenthaltstitel Ausbildung" at the Austrian Embassy responsible for your country.
To study in Austria students have to apply for a “Residence Permit” (Aufenthaltstitel Ausbildung).
Since one cannot apply for the residence permit after having arrived in Austria, an application for the residence permit must be submitted to the appropriate Austrian Authorities (Austrian Embassy) in the student’s country of origin/residence.

Generally, applicants have to provide the following certified documents in German or English:

  • official confirmation letter from the institute (will be issued by the FH-Salzburg upon acceptance)
  • birth-certificate (German translated copy is required)
  • document proving your permanent residency if you do not dwell in your home country
  • an extract of criminal records
  • a copy of financial resources for one academic year (required resources vary depending on applicant's age)
  • a fully completed visa application form
  • a copy of your passport (valid at least until three months after the end of the course)
  • 1 passport photograph
Please double check with your responsible authority as they might require additional documents. You can find the responsible embassy on the website of the Austrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Note: Applicants have to apply at the Austrian embassy that is responsible for their country. For students who would like to come and study in Salzburg, residence permit can only be applied for at the Austrian embassy. A schengen visa allows you to stay in the schengen countries for a short period of time and it can only be extended in your country. So "Aufenthaltstitel Ausbildung" has to be appllied for from the onset.
