Application procedures: IMT-English 2012/13

Students in our program want to be sure that they will be part of a professional
team that is academically strong, already at least somewhat knowledgeable in the
world of tourism and exceptionally committed. For this reason, we have
implemented a stringent selection process which consists of several parts.
The first step in the application procedure takes place online and therefore should
begin with a scanning of all required documents which are listed below. All
documents must be submitted in either German or English. If translations are
required, these must be done by a certified translator and both original and
translation submitted. Only certified documents (for your entrance qualifications) are allowed. Any other documents will not be considered. Please see also www.fh-salzburg.ac.at "Legalisation" under BA or MA website

Documentation of secondary education:
University entrance qualification / High School Diploma
Other: We accept other diplomas which qualify you to attend a university program
in your own country of where you completed your secondary studies. Please upload the certificates and we will come back to you after the approval of our rectorate . If translations are
required, these must be done by a certified translator and both original and
translation submitted. Only certified documents (for your entrance qualifications) are allowed. Any other documents will not be considered.

Deadline to submit proof of English language skills: August 15th, 2012 for October 2012 intake

 

English certificate is necessary for all students. Exceptions need to be discussed whe you apply and/or before August, 15th 2012.

 

CV & Documentation of Work Experience:
Participants in this program should have already obtained work experience in
the field of tourism. In addition to a complete CV, if applicable, please submit
evidence of your work experience.

Letter of Motivation:
Your essay should be typed, double-spaced and no longer than 2 pages. Please
put your name on each page. This is your opportunity to persuade the admissions
committee to accept you. Convince us of your talents, explain clearly why you want
to be in our program. Give us a picture of your background and goals.

Application:
Once you have scanned all of the above documents go to the application page.
Application deadline for the autumn block, 2012 (beginning on October
3rd, 2012) is April, 23rd 2012 for those, who take the test abroad and or need a visa and May, 21st , 2012 for all others.

Placement test:
After having received your complete application package, we will contact you regarding an appointment for a placement test. If you are living in the area, you will be asked to come to our facilities to take this test. Otherwise, you will take the test online.

Important: Applicants located abroad may suggest trustworthy location (school, university, embassy, consulate, etc.) where they can sit for this placement test, in the event that we do not already have a liaison office in your proximity. As soon as you suggest a location and make this information is made available to us, we contact the facility to make necessary arrangements.

This multiple-choice examination is conducted completely in English and will check your general knowledge in the fields of business & economics, English proficiency, tourism, computers including internet usage, etc. The test will take approximately one hour. Depending on the results of your placement test, you may or may not be invited to the next step in the application procedure, which is the application interview. Note to foreign applicants: Taking the placement test is not a guarantee that you qualify for admission into our program. Your application documents and university entrance qualification must first be evaluated by our International Admissions Office before you may continue to the video step of the process.

Personal video -Deadline will be communicated to you directly

The final step in the application process is the personal video. If you have passed the PT with a minimum of 50 points, you will be asked to provide us with an application interview movie, responding to a list of questions which you will receive from us after the placement test. Instructuions will be sent out by mail. You will continue to be updated concerning the status of your application. Final decisions on admission will be communicated by the end of June, 2012.

Should you be admitted into our program, it will be your own responsibility to obtain the necessary visa to study in Austria. We know from experience that this can be a very time-consuming procedure.
